When the temperatures outside start to drop, it‘s important to take a few extra steps to make sure you store paint properly. If paint freezes, it can ruin the consistency and make it unusable. Here are a few tips for storing paint in cold weather:
1. Store paint in a cool, dry place. A temperature–controlled storage unit or basement is ideal.
2. If possible, store paint in its original container with the lid tightly sealed.
3. If you need to transfer paint to another container, make sure it‘s clean and dry.
4. Label all containers with the name and date of the paint.
5. If you’re planning on using the paint, make sure it is kept at room temperature for at least 24 hours before use.
6. Check on your paint periodically to make sure it hasn‘t frozen. If it has, dispose of it properly.
By following these simple tips, you can rest assured that your paint will be safe from the cold weather.
