In an era that has been dominated by the use of smartphones and other technology, public payphone use has seemingly faded into obscurity. However, these iconic red telephone boxes still play a significant part into British heritage, seen as a British cultural icon throughout the world. Accordingly, proudly Made In Britain, HMG are continuing to take part in transforming many of the UK’s payphones into lifesaving defibrillator stations.

This comes in regards to HMG’s long standing entry into the BT & The Community Heartbeat Trust’s ‘Adopt a Telephone Kiosk’ Scheme, as part of the British Coatings Federation’s initiative. With this, many members within the community of Great Somerford reached out to HMG with this trust in mind. Over recent weeks, HMG have assisted in transforming Great Somerford’s kiosk into a Public Access Defibrillator, an ideal location for this life-saving device.

HMG’s History Within This Scheme:

HMG have a long running history in this scheme, dating as far back as 2012! The business have continued to supply paint through the ‘Adopt a Telephone Kiosk’ scheme, assisting in transforming Great Somerford’s local telephone kiosk. From the first donation for the inaugural installation in Long Wittenham, Oxfordshire, to councils from Norfolk to Nottinghamshire, HMG Paints Ltd has played a key role in this initiative. Over the years, contributions from HMG have assisted in restoring and maintaining these iconic red telephone boxes, helping to preserve a piece of British heritage.

With the quick response to community needs from HMG, they have proved crucial in converting these redundant telephone kiosks into life-saving defibrillator stations. By providing Great Somerford with a high-quality Coach Enamel promptly, HMG enabled the community to restore this structure with a durable, vibrant finish. In Addition, the timely supply of paint ensured the kiosk was protected from the elements. Therefore, making them ideal for housing defibrillators.
